CANCELLATION OF THE 2020 MOTORCYCLE SEASON

Following the exceptional situation we are currently facing, unprecedented measures have been taken by the National Security Council. And, when we were still counting down the days a little while ago, we are today in regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 bikes season and so the following events: The Classic Bikes (16 to 18 July), the Open Trophy (24 to 26 July) and the Supermoto (16 august).

Actually, several reasons can explain this decision. First of all, the most obvious is of course the “prohibition to organize a mass event until the 31st august included”. Then, there is uncertainty about whether or not borders will be open, and as you know, foreigners are a significant part of our pilots but also of our spectators. Finally, it should also be noted that our events are repeated in the so-called “risky” events which implies that the “Centre de Santé des Fagnes” (the hospital) has always to provide medical staff reinforcement in case of accident(s) on our tracks. However, it is very likely that Chimay hospital will still be in a “covid-19 situation” this summer. Therefore, it will simply be impossible to combine the two. We cannot and we want not to add more workload and stress to the health care teams.

This is a blow to all of us but we had been prepared for it for a few days. Of course, we respect the measures put in place by the authorities. It is about your safety and health whether you are a pilot, spectator, volunteer, partner, supplier, etc. Your health is and will always be our priority.

For the pilots already registered, you will be contacted personally shortly with all the useful information.

While waiting to find you in the paddocks to share good times together, continue to take care of yourself and your surroundings. We are already looking forward to see you in 2021 to celebrate the 95th birthday of the Circuit of Chimay.
